Julie Brooks

Although primarily self-taught, Julie Brooks has studied with leading artists in encaustic, ceramics, painting, cyanotype, cold wax oil painting, and metal clay at institutions including the Cape Cod Museum of Art, Truro Center for the Arts, and the Cultural Center of Cape Cod.

An active participant in the Cape Cod art scene, you’ll see her at Urban Sketchers gatherings. She’s also on the Marian Crane Gallery Committee at the Snow Library in Orleans.

She holds an M.A. in Art History from Syracuse University and a B.A. in Art History from Boston University, with concentrations in Italian Renaissance, American Regionalism, and 17th-century Dutch art. 

She leads workshops in metal jewelry, cyanotype, gel printing, artist books, and jewelry mosaics.

Her work has been exhibited in juried shows across Cape Cod, including the Truro Center for the Arts, Falmouth Art Center, and the Cotuit Center for the Arts.

In 2025, she received the Carol Sandler Award of Excellence for her mosaic, Beauty and Terror, 3 am, which was selected from a show of more than 100 pieces at the Cotuit Center for the Arts.

Brooks’ work is held in private collections throughout the United States.
