Patty Barnes

Ms Barnes spent her childhood drawing on reams of white shelf paper—even while hospitalized as a nine year old. In time, she climbed trees in her yard and began sketching the landscape.

 

Patty earned a BFA in Art History from Marymount College, Tarrytown NY. She continued her education earning her Masters from the University of Wisconsin. 

 

In February 2016, Barnes sold her business on the Cape and began to paint daily. The children were launched and doing well. It was time for a change. 

 

Since then Patty’s work has been juried into national shows at the Cape Cod Art Center, the Creative Art Center, and the Cultural Center of Cape Cod. She is a member of all three organizations, plus, the Cape Cod Art Association, the Monday Painters Group, and the Yarmouth Art Guild. 

Patricia Barns is an award-winning oil painter, She studied drawing, watercolor and oil painting at Marymount College, Tarrytown, NY where she graduated with a BFA in Art History, Barnes earned her Master’s Degree at the University of Wisconsin.

 

Her work has sold nationally and internationally.  Barnes specializes in oils and watercolors that capture the heart of Cape Cod expressed through light and color and often with a touch of whimsy.

 

Barnes' work is available at The Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis, MA and Eastwind Gallery in Orleans, MA.

 

Barnes teaches oil painting for beginners and advanced beginners plus, workshops on painting with a credit card.at the Cape Cod Museum of Art,  Ms. Barnes also teaches "Playing with Gouache" at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod.

She is a juried member of the American Impressionist Society, Inc. Oil Painters of America and the Cape Cod Art Center. 

 

Barnes lives on Cape Cod with her husband and two spoiled puppies.
