 Elinor Freedman

Elinor Freedman is a Cape Cod washashore who is inspired by the beauty of the landscape and creative energy of fellow artists.  While Ellie has explored a variety of mediums, she is drawn to the vibrancy and immediacy of working with pastel. Using soft pastel on sanded papers or textured boards and acrylic or watercolor underpaintings, Ellie’s pastels show a range of effects that bring her paintings to life. She has exhibited her work in numerous juried exhibits in New England and New York.

Ellie is a juried member of the Salmagundi Club of NY, a master artist at the Cape Cod Art Center, a juried member of the National Association of Women Artists, an associate member of the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club and the Pastel Society of America as well as a member of the Pastel Society of New Hampshire, the Central MA Pastel Society, the Yarmouth Art Guild, Sandwich Arts Alliance, the Arts Collaborative of Wakefield, and the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod for which she has served as a board member and coordinates a scholarship program for high school students who aspire to careers in the arts. Ellie also serves as docent chair at the Cape Cod Museum of Art where she enjoys collaborating with docents to curate museum exhibits.
